Since his youth I have noticed his tendency to use his hands in different works and I did not have a variety of chances to discover and develop his skills at an early age. When the opportunity was available, my son, Madaa, participated in a training course that offered the basics of (the carpentry) profession. Thanks to God, he was a prominent student in this course, days later; I found him standing beside the trainer assisting him to teach the rest of the young trainees. The trainer said that he was such an “inspiring student” and was very clever in using the tools. Then he began to train himself on the sleight-of-hand skills through watching the professional videos on the Internet and he became skilful in it.

This type of learning, which is beyond the traditional curriculum and educational institutions, aims primarily at developing diverse skills and hobbies - for young and old alike – I wanted to take the initiative and give it a name that distinguishes it, so I called it (Skills through entertainment): SkillsTainment.

It is a vast world of development vistas and self-development in various fields of skills and sports, artistic, professional, technical, scientific, social, crafts hobbies, etc.

My daughter Alaa surprised us at home from an early age by the ability of pastry making and handmade accessories. The beginning was self-informed through watching channels and entertainment programs primarily.

The world of institutions, especially the (training companies), adopts advanced forms of skill development in entertainment through the design of programs based on practical exercises, case studies and roles playing through using various games and entertainment tools. There are many models of entertainment facilities that are used in a very common subject, which is the discovery and development of leadership sprit and team working sprit inside institutions.

We are very convinced of this fact: in every home and institution there are amazing energies, talents and skills. Entertainment is a beautiful and fun way to discover these talents, direct these energies and develop these skills. We need to enable entertainment in order to achieve that.

Throughout my long and extensive researches on institutions that produce entertainment that contributes to the development of skills according to systematic principles in our Arab countries. I found only one institution in the United Arab of Emirates; it is called (Smart Skills), it has some productions of high quality and clear objectives in the field of Management. However, there are other separated attempts that are still merely insights and attempts.  

Our conviction must be turned into a real movement, so that we can overcome the common challenge of the current generation and future generations. Challenge of wasting and losing talents and skills even before they are discovered.
